Saqqara Mummies: New discovered tombs (Mastabas)

Saqqara is a big necropolis located south Giza pyramids, it is very rich place, always it offer us new discoveries, in 2020  offered to the world a real precious discovery as  a group of archaeologists discovered a large number of intact sarcophagi in the Saqqara necropolis, which the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities made known to the entire world.
Regardless of whether or not you like archeology and Egyptology, this is a very important discovery that reveals even more of the history of ancient Egypt. Facts About Saqqara
 
* It is a necropolis located in Egypt 30 km south of the modern city of Cairo.

* The most important and famous funerary complex is the stepped pyramid of Djoser from the 3rd dynasty, considered the oldest among the pyramids.

* Many are unaware that there are tunnels under the pyramid that extend through a labyrinth of 5.5 kilometers in length.

* In 2018, an intact grave was discovered. It is believed to be the tomb of the royal priest Wahtye. The intact interior includes colored figures in sculptures and carvings on the walls.

 Discovery of Tombs in Egypt 2020

In October
 
In early October, Egypt's tourism and antiquities minister reported that archaeologists had unearthed dozens of ancient coffins in a vast necropolis south of Cairo.

At least 59 sealed sarcophagi, with mummies inside most of them, that had been buried in three pits over 2,600 years ago in the famous Step Pyramid of Djoser at Saqqar, plus an unknown number of coffins that have yet to be unearthed in the same area.

Mostafa Waziri, secretary general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, reported that preliminary studies show that the decorated sarcophagi were made for priests, high officials and elites of the Late Pharaonic Period (664-525 BC).

 In November

After the discoveries between September and October of the same year, in November viewers receive another announcement. In it, the finding of more than 100 intact wooden coffins with brightly painted scenes and hieroglyphics, and well-preserved mummies inside, is confirmed.

These coffins were found at the bottom of three 40-foot shafts. Other finds include funerary masks and more than 40 statues of the funerary deity Ptah-Sokar, all intact for at least 2,500 years.

 Discovery of 210 Tombs (Mastabas) in Egypt 

Since September the archaeological mission has discovered at least 210 coffins buried in pits under the dunes of Saqqara. So far this year, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has announced the most recent find: 52 burial pits containing more than 50 wooden coffins estimated to be 3,000 years old.
